Abstract

River transportation services include passenger and freight transportation services. River transportation is a community or individual ownership of small-type boat/ship. As one of the tourist attractions in Makassar, Lakkang village, surrounded by rivers, requires river transportation services for the community's mobility and tourists from outside to Lakkang. Three piers serve crossings to Lakkang, namely Parangloe Pier, Buloa Pier and Kera-kera Pier. This study aims to determine operating patterns such as boat frequency, carrying capacity, and the right schedule for the Parangloe – Lakkang pier crossing service. The methods used in this study are the calculation of crossing frequency, the boat carrying capacity analysis, and schedule adjustments based on crossing frequency. The results of this study obtained a crossing frequency of 6 trips/boat/day. The result of the comparison between demand capacity and available capacity was that for this crossing route, only five boats with the size of the existing boat and the available capacity of 14 passengers and ten vehicles. The operation was planned for the first boat departing from Parangloe Pier at 07.00 WITA and the last boat departing from Parangloe Pier at 20.40 WITA. Furthermore, for departure from Lakkang, the first boat departs at 07.00 WITA, and the last boat departs at 17.50 WITA.
