Abstract

The cooling system is one of the systems that supports engine performance so that system failure can cause decreased engine performance. The KM. Pangrango cooling system, which has been operating since 1996, has cooling system components, namely seachest, pipes, valves, strainers, cooler, fresh water pumps, sea water pumps. From the long operation of the cooling system. KM. which has a component life of 24 years Pangrango until now. So to be able to know the characteristics of system failure and optimum maintenance management for all material components, critical component analysis is required using the Risk Priority Number method and reliability analysis using the Weibull distribution method with the reliability index as a benchmark. The fuel system maintenance planning stage takes into account availability. Based on the RPN value, the results are in the form of the component that has the highest risk, namely the cooler component with an RPN value of 315. Based on the calculation results of the Weibull Distribution, the MTTF value and reliability value are obtained for each component. The pipe component is 104 hours with a reliability value of 0.6, valve is 255 hours with a reliability value of 0.6, seachest is 172 hours with a reliability value of 0.6, cooler is 40 hours with a reliability value of 0.6, fresh water pump is 91 hours with a reliability value of 0.6, and a sea water pump of 91 hours with a reliability value of 0.6. The thesis writer's suggestion may be useful for the ship's crew to pay more attention to maintenance of components that have a high level of risk, especially coolers as cooling media so that components increase the reliability value of these components.
