Abstract

The ship TB Semar 26 is ​​a tug boat that is used to push or pull ships operating at the Soekarno Hatta Makassar port whose services are used by Pelindo from PT. Humpus Bulk Transport. Where during operation there were several problems with the cooling system which caused the performance of the main engine to decrease so that it could not work optimally. This study aims to determine the causes, impacts, and efforts made in the occurrence of sea water cooling system problems. The method used in this research is FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) and USG (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth). The object of this research was carried out on the Ship TB Semar 26 especially on seawater cooling system components. The results of this study prove that damage to the main engine cooling system in Ship TB. Semar 26 is ​​caused by several factors that are interconnected with one another. With 4 main factors that are the main causes using the FTA method, then using the USG method which makes the main factor of the decreased performance of the cooling system is dirty pipes.
